A Few Hours Off for the Caregiver
Someone stays with the person being cared for so the caregiver can leave the house for a while.
- Hands-on, on Prince Edward Island
Arranged after a call. Some things we arrange after a short call, so we can check the details and make sure we can do it properly. Tell us what's needed and we'll come back with what's possible and what it would cost. Nothing is charged until you've agreed to it.
What this is
Three hours of non-clinical company so the caregiver can go out. The person staying provides presence and conversation, makes tea, reads aloud or sits quietly. They don't provide personal care, don't give medication and don't perform anything that requires training. We talk with the family first to confirm the person can be safely left with someone who isn't a health professional. If they can't, we'll say so and point you toward home care instead. PEI only at launch.
What's included
- Three hours of non-clinical company
- Conversation, reading aloud, tea, quiet presence
- Family conversation before the first visit
- No personal care and no medication
- Fare-Well handwritten card with your message
- A handwritten Fare-Well card with your message, and a memorial birdseed ornament.
Why we chose this
Caregivers stop leaving the house. Not because they can't, but because there's nobody to hand over to for an hour. Three hours where somebody else is responsible is often the difference between a caregiver who lasts and one who collapses.
