Someone Calm to Sort Through It With

Half a day of steady, unhurried help sorting belongings, paperwork or rooms, at whatever pace suits them.

Arranged after a call
  • Hands-on, on Prince Edward Island
  • Can be scheduled
Handwritten card

Arranged after a call. Some things we arrange after a short call, so we can check the details and make sure we can do it properly. Tell us what's needed and we'll come back with what's possible and what it would cost. Nothing is charged until you've agreed to it.

What this is

About four hours of hands-on help sorting, packing or clearing, with someone who isn't in a hurry and isn't emotionally involved. Closets, a room, paperwork, a garage. We agree in advance what's being sorted and what happens to it, and nothing gets discarded without the family saying so. We can stop early if the day turns out to be harder than expected, and we don't reschedule aggressively. More than one person can contribute toward this. PEI only at launch.

What's included

  • About four hours of hands-on sorting
  • Agreed scope confirmed before the visit
  • Nothing discarded without the family's say-so
  • Boxes and basic packing materials
  • Fare-Well handwritten card with your message
  • A handwritten Fare-Well card with your message, and a memorial birdseed ornament.

Why we chose this

Sorting a dead person's belongings is the task families put off for a year and then do badly in one exhausting weekend. Having a steady person there who didn't know them changes what's possible in an afternoon, because they can pick something up and put it down without it meaning anything.

Trish, Fare-Well Co.

  • Weeks after a death
